Scores of disabled workers will lose their jobs from next month following the closure of 27 factories. Staff at Remploy, which provides job opportunities for disabled people, were told their loss-making sites could not be subsidised any longer. It was ‘difficult news` but £320million budget for disabled employment could be spent more effectively, the government added. Unions said it showed a `callous disregard ` for disabled workers.
